Hot Hot Hot

Corvette and other motor enthusiasts will gather in downtown Sioux Falls for the 22nd Annual Hot Summer Nites, which remains the longest running car show in the area. This year’s event will be held July 15th beginning at 6:00 p.m. and concludes at 10:30 p.m.

Hundreds of Corvettes from all over the United States will line Phillips Avenue in downtown Sioux Falls. The event occupies the streets of Phillips Ave. and Main Ave. from 9th St. to 14th St. Attendance for the event hit a record high of 15,000 people in 2014. The annual event is free to attend.

Downtown Sioux Falls, Inc. (DTSF) Communications Director, Brienne Maner, said, “Hot Summer Nites is the second longest-running DTSF event and has seen continued success over the years of its existence. Big events like this help increase the awareness of our downtown community as a great destination and highlights amenities such as shopping, loft living, professional services, culture, art, recreation and dining.”

A motorcycle parade livens up the event around 6:45 p.m., driving through the downtown area after a start from J&L Harley-Davidson. Food and beverage vendors along with product vendors line the streets of downtown Sioux Falls for the event.
The Rumbles will perform on the main stage again this year, located at Main Avenue and 11th Street. The Natural Disaster Band will perform at the Federal Plaza (12th & Phillips Ave.) from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.

While Hot Summer Nites is a good stopover point for people heading to the Black Hills Corvette Classic, it’s also an extension of the party that happens the week before it – the 20th Annual Hot Harley Nights.  

Numerous downtown businesses will be serving food on the sidewalks along with many additional food vendors. Some of? ?the classic favorite food vendors will return like Gyros & More and SDSU Ice Cream?.? Krazy Concessions ?is also returning ?with a unique menu including? ?jalapeno cheese curds, funnel cakes and homemade wontons. Please support the event, and do not bring any outside food or beverages.

DTSF is a non-profit organization with a goal of keeping downtown vital. DTSF has approximately 350 members with an emphasis on the beautification and economic development of Downtown as well as events and assistance to members to help them grow their businesses. DTSF coordinates events and works with downtown merchants and residents to beautify and bring more people and shoppers downtown. They provide networking and collaboration opportunities for their members as well as educational opportunities. This includes marketing resources and social media promotion.
